CLOUD, FL AT A GLANCE

St. Cloud is a small and unassuming city encompassing roughly nine square miles in northern Osceola County. What it lacks for size, it makes up for in natural beauty – it features nearly 2.5 miles of gorgeous lakefront and a well-maintained park system. Its vibrant downtown is lined with shopping, dining, entertainment, and nightlife options.

Located on the south banks of East Lake Tohopekaliga, the city offers a year-round vacation lifestyle with breathtaking scenery and pleasant weather. It lies about 26 miles southeast of Orlando, providing easy access to World Disney World Resort, The Florida Mall, The Mall at Millenia, Orlando International Airport, and other world-class attractions and amenities. It is surrounded by the City of Kissimmee to the northwest and Narcoossee Road to the northeast.

13th Street serves the city’s main commercial corridor with a high concentration of shops, restaurants, and businesses at the intersection of Old Canoe Creek Road. Downtown St. Cloud spans the areas from 13th Street all the way to City Hall at 9th Street.

St. Cloud was a raw sugar manufacturing hub with the St. Cloud Plantation at East Lake Toho in the late 1800s. It was founded as a retirement community for Civil War Union veterans in 1909 hence the nickname “The Friendly Soldier City”. A majority of the city’s north-south streets were named for the states in which Union Army veterans served and still retain these names today. It was incorporated as a city in 1911 with its boundaries expanding via voluntary annexation over the years. The downtown area still features several historic old buildings from the early 1910s along 9th and 10th streets.
